Assembly News for February 2009
| Congratulations to our newest member, Melissa, who was initiated at Mid-Year on Jan. 31. Welcome to Austin #5! Our Installation of Officers for the Spring 2009 term will take place Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 pm. Girls should arrive by 1 pm. There is also a practice on Friday the 13th at 7 pm at the Lodge, so everyone will know what to do at the Installation. Attire for Installations is Formal attire (click link for details - formals for members, dress or skirt and blouse for female guests, dress slacks and shirt for male guests); please help your guests feel comfortable by making sure they are aware of the dress code. This event is open to any family and friends.

Assembly News for October 2008
| Congratulations to our newest member, Kembra, who was initiated October 22. We are happy to welcome her to Austin Assembly! Thanks also to Lauren from New Braunfels for pro-temming Faith for us. Kudos to Jessica for saying her initiation part from memory. Way to go! The next meeting, Nov. 12, will be an informal meeting. We will be having a self-defense class, so come dressed comfortably! (Assembly t-shirt and sweat pants or similar workout gear recommended.) Please note that we will be starting early, at 6:30 pm. This program will fulfill our Assembly's annual Youth Protection Program requirement. Also, early voting is going on now - for our girls who are old enough, don't forget to vote! Voting counts toward your indigo Service Bar. Have you been working on your Service Bars lately? Don't forget to check your Service Bars handout for suggested activities that count toward your Service Bars, and let the Mother Advisor know if you have done a service or self-improvement project that will count toward your awards. Don't forget that each bar also requires you to learn a bow station from memory - you can say a lecture to a Board member any time to fulfill those requirements!

Assembly News for July 2008
| Grand Assembly has come and gone, and there's so much news it's hard to know where to begin! Austin Assembly was honored with the appointment of Cheyenne as Grand Representative to Indiana/Illinois/Australia-Queensland for 2008-2009. Mr. Eames was reappointed to the Grand Committee on Work, and Mrs. Barbara Silvus was appointed as our new Grand Deputy. On Saturday, Pamela became the first member from Austin #5 in at at least 4 years to earn her A & B buttons, followed soon after by Nikki, Jessica, and Cheyenne. Nikki, Cheyenne, and Jessica served as Grand Pages, and Pamela served in the Grand Choir. The girls entered a banner in the banner competition, and Sara, Nikki, Cheyenne, and Jessica competed in the cheer competition. Austin was recognized for selling the most ads for the Commemorative Program, and Cheyenne was given a special award for selling the most ads of any Texas girl. We are so proud of all of our girls for doing such a GREAT job!! Click the "Assembly" tab for links to pictures from Grand Assembly, as well as other events. We are looking forward to GA next year in Frisco! There are lots of fun opportunities for the month of July, including Grand Tour, for anyone who is interested in participating. Click the "Events" tab for the calendar. The Assembly schedule for the fall term (August-January) will be posted soon. |

Assembly News for June 2008
| Grand Assembly is coming up quickly! Ms. Laura needs to know at the May 14 meeting who needs a hotel room which nights for Grand Assembly. This includes girls, parents, and Board members - please let her know which nights you need a room so we will be sure to have enough, but not overpay for too many rooms. Possible nights include Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (nights of June 26, 27, 28, 29). The May 28 meeting will be an "informal" meeting. This will be the informational meeting for parents about Grand Assembly; at least one parent of each girl is requested to attend if at all possible. We will also have an enchilada dinner and cook-off. Everyone in asked to being enchiladas or a side dish that goes with enchiladas. We've heard the girls (and adults) boast about their enchiladas, so let's see who wins the title! :) We were so thrilled to have our Grand Deputy, Mrs. Baker, at our April 23 meeting for her official visit. Thanks to all our friends from New Braunfels Assembly who came and helped us - we really appreciate you!! |
